The proposal with the revised plans for four turbines is due to be submitted for planning permission soon and Purbeck District Council will then be inviting comments and submissions from the public.
Unfortunately all the previous letters of support (over 450) cannot be transferred to the new application, so once again we will call on the good people of Purbeck to make their views known.
The bigger picture:
The planet is warming. Latest research is showing the poles are warming much quicker than expected, an ice-free Arctic summer, previously predicted by the end of this century now seems likely within 5-10 years. This is crucial as it would be a positive feedback event, highly reflective ice is replaced by heat absorbing ocean causing even more global warming.
The need to cut our carbon emissions is vital to avoid climate chaos.
The consequences if we don't are frightening, mass species extinctions, food and water shortages, national migrations and the breakdown of natural systems including the loss of our traditional English countryside seem likely.
Dr. James Hansen, top climate expert of NASA, tells us that "business-as-usual would be a guarantee of global and regional disasters".
There is only one plan on the table, DART is not submitting any alternative to the Council, nor are they likely to, it is Alaska wind farm or business-as-usual.
We need an energy revolution and it starts here.
please write to the Planning Dept. Purbeck District Council, Westport House, Wareham, Dorset, BH20 4PP to express your support for this development.
